The Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act, if signed into law, would prohibit the exhibition of exotic animals in traveling performances.  This is a measure that would deprive countless Americans the ability to experience endangered animals up close such as elephants and tigers.  The ability to encounter such a majestic creature fosters a love of wildlife in children that lasts a lifetime.

There is language in H.R. 2863 that will outlaw the breeding of exotic animals, which in turn can and will affect endangered species negatively.  Zoos, aquariums, and private owners are responsible for the conservation and reintroduction of many endangered animals including but not limited to the Scimitar-horned Oryx, the Przewalski's horse, and the California Condor.  Without the tireless efforts of private owners and zookeepers, these animals would be extinct today.

H.R. 2863 will send these animals to animal rights owned "sanctuaries" where they will be managed to extinction instead of being preserved.

Many uninformed or misguided people who do love animals immediately assume that exotic animals belong in "the wild." The realities of the wild is not favorable for the well being of animals or the survival of species! The realities of the wild include habitat loss, poaching, illness, predators, starvation, drought, and many more perils in the realities of the wild.  H.R. 2863 is legislation which is created by those who have a motive to remove these animals from human care and whose ideology is based on emotion, not science or facts. Sadly, their ultimate goal is for the elimination of all animals from humane care and use.

Accordingly, it is critical that you help us defeat this agenda-driven legislation.
