Oppose VA SB 1412

The hearing for SB1412 is set for Monday, January 25, 2021 at 4:00 PM Eastern Time

VA SB 1412 would require as a condition of employment in a pet-related industry, as a condition of pet purchase,  and as a condition of pet sale or adoption that everyone file a statement  indicating that they have never been convicted of animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment.  This sounds great until you realize that we are now at a point that anyone can be charged and convicted of animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment for actions as benign as leaving the dog in the yard too long, lack of water in the outside bowl, or the dog escapes the yard. The state of Virginia would now prevent such an individual from owning or working with animals. This is unconscionable.
