Urge Texas AG Paxton to Stop San Antonio’s Unlawful Ban on Horse-Drawn Carriages

Take Action to urge Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, to support horse-drawn carriages against the city council's unlawful plan to "phase out" or ban their lawful businesses, outright.

The San Antonio City Council is claiming to move forward with plans to unlawfully ban horse-drawn carriages in San Antonio, despite the fact that these businesses have never violated any animal welfare, safety, or traffic laws.

The Council's decision to "phase out" horse-drawn carriages directly contradicts the Regulatory Consistency Act (HB2127), which was passed by the Texas State Legislature in 2023 and is now law. This law prohibits local governments from banning lawful businesses, including horse-drawn carriages as they are certainly small businesses that are protected under this law.

The San Antonio City Council cannot simply create a rule to shut down these businesses, and their actions are a clear violation of state law.

We urge everyone to take action by sending a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, calling on him to hold the San Antonio City Council accountable for violating the law and banning a lawful business in San Antonio.

Let's protect the rights of small business owners and ensure that local governments follow the laws put in place by the  state legislature.
